In order to get the most out of your capsule lingerie collection, make sure you have stock of everything you already own. Before you buy anything new, start by taking an inventory of what you have and go from there. Categorise your collection into piles, for instance strapless bras, t-shirt bras, thongs, knicker shorts, shapewear etc. all get their own piles. If you don’t know all the terminology, just do what makes sense to you. Basically, what we are trying to do here is separate by functionality of your lingerie to see what you have and what you’re missing.
Once you’ve separated everything out, get rid of anything that is ill-fitting, or has rips, tears, holes, or the classic time of the month stain. Old bras can be tossed, or even better, given to a local charity or women’s shelter (but check that they accept them first)! Now spend some time looking at your current clothing, taking notice of any colours, textures and fabric will help you select lingerie styles that are most appropriate. This will help you fill in the gaps.
For example, you might choose to create a lingerie collection with seven bras and 14 pairs of knickers. Now you might have chosen this number because then you can go for two weeks without having to do any hand washing. Now this might not happen but it’s good to have the option. That number also gives you enough variety to last the entire season. If you’re unsure on how to look after your lingerie check out our dedicated lingerie care guide.
