FINDING SWIMWEAR THAT FITS

Arguably one of the most important steps towards making Pour Moi a more sustainable brand is offering swimwear that fits perfectly. Luckily, we do this well! By making swimwear that fits perfectly, that you’ll come back to year after year we decrease the number of products that are returned and bought, therefore reducing the emissions it takes to make and ship our products. We pride ourselves on creating swimwear that fits your natural figure perfectly by offering cup-sized options, control features and prioritising size inclusivity. With our inclusive sizing and comfortable designs, we know that women of all sizes can enjoy stylish and sustainable swimwear.

One of our favourite recycled bikini styles, the Free Spirit Strapless Underwired Bikini Top features a hidden underwire and flattering shirred fabric detailing. With removable and adjustable straps this recycled style matches perfectly with the Free Spirit Frill Waist Brief. If you’re a lover of tummy support, then you’ll be obsessed with the Palm Springs Colour Block Tummy Control Swimsuit. With a flattering square neckline, padded, adjustable straps and a hidden tummy control panel this timeless style fits perfectly with your figure so you can feel comfortable, confident and fabulous year after year. One of the many reasons why our swimwear fits perfectly is we include extra supportive features, such as lightly padded cups and halter neck ties. Take the Seychelles Lightly Padded Halter Underwired Bikini Top, we’ve made it even easier to find your perfect fit with its halter neck tie. Match with the Seychelles Bikini Brief for even more ways to find your perfect fit.

WHAT FABRIC IS SUSTAINABLE SWIMWEAR MADE OF?

When you think of sustainable fashion, you think of organic cottons and natural fibres, but these are a no-go when it comes to swimwear. Natural fibres absorb water – which is why they make great summer clothing, but no so great for swimming. You really don’t want to be dragged down by holding half the ocean in your bikini bottoms now, do you? That’s why swimwear is often made from synthetic fibres as these repel water.

However, these synthetic fabrics are terrible for the environment. That’s why at Pour Moi we use a lot of recycled synthetic fabrics in our swimwear. Using these types of materials such as recycled polyamide and recycled nylon saves on raw materials and energy, as well as preventing waste materials going to landfill. It also takes less energy to transform waste into recycled material than it does to make a whole new material!

We also use LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fabric in a lot of our sports swimsuits to make them more durable. This type of fabric is resistant to damage caused by the sun, heat, chlorine and sun tan lotion, meaning it lasts up to 10 times longer than unprotected fabrics. So, you can enjoy your beautiful swimsuits for longer! Some of our favourite LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ swimsuits include the Energy Chlorine Resistant High Leg Swimsuit, Energy Double Strap Chlorine Resistant Racerback Mesh Swimsuit and Energy Long Sleeved Zip Front Paddle Swimsuit. There's no need to worry about how long you're spending in the water with these chlorine resistant swimsuits.

But our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop there. We also avoid using any toxic dyes or chemicals in the production of their swimwear, further reducing their impact on the environment.

HOW FAR DID IT TRAVEL?

When looking at sustainable swimwear it’s worth considering how far that garment has travelled to get to you. While the swimsuit or bikini might be deemed sustainable if it’s being flow halfway across the world to get to you that will has a significant impact on the environment. With this in mind we took the decision a few years ago to stop any product from our factories being delivered by air freight. It’s always worth doing your research!
