We have created an indexed report that looks at three main data streams for over 550 cities around the globe: the number of times reviewers described the locations as ‘romantic,’ the number of ‘things to do for couples’ listed in each city and the number of Instagram posts with the hashtag #datenight[city]. 

To create our definitive ranking of the world’s most romantic destinations, we indexed each data point to create an overall ‘Romantic Score’ out of 100. So, have your favourite bikinis and swimsuits at the ready because your travel bucket list is about to get a little longer…

1. London, United Kingdom (79.11 out of 100)
   Taking the crown as the most romantic city for couples to visit is London. Whether you’re wandering hand-in-hand along the South Bank, catching the sunset from the top of Primrose Hill, or sharing a bottle of wine in a cosy pub, romance is never far away. There’s always something special to do, from wearing a cute swimsuit to paddle in Hampstead Heath ponds to candlelit dinners in hidden corners of the West End - 12,400 Instagram posts with the hashtag ‘datenightLondon’ prove how couple-friendly it is. However, not all lovey-dovey activities in London need to be expensive; our TripAdvisor data found that The Meeting Place Statue at St Pancras Station has a higher percentage of ‘romantic’ mentions across all reviews than any other attraction in the capital.

2. New York City, New York, USA (66.65 out of 100)
   New York City has a way of making everything feel cinematic, especially when you're experiencing it with someone you love. From ice skating under the twinkling lights at Rockefeller Center to sharing a quiet moment on a rowboat in Central Park, the city is full of romantic surprises. Stroll through the West Village’s charming streets or take in skyline views from the top of the Empire State Building - every corner feels like a scene from your favourite rom-com. New York’s beautiful and buzzing energy makes it the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments together.

3. Miami, Florida, USA (54.64 out of 100)
   Miami brings the heat when it comes to love - literally and figuratively. With golden beaches, swaying palms, and picture-perfect pastel-hued sunsets, it’s made for couples looking to relax and reconnect. Take a moonlit stroll along South Beach, enjoy a couples’ spa day in a luxury hotel, or (for couples who like to party) dance the night away in Little Havana. Whether you're sipping cocktails by the water or exploring the Art Deco charm of Ocean Drive, our research found there are 167 things for couples to do in this fun and passionate city.

4. Toronto, Canada (54.17 out of 100)
   Toronto is a hidden gem for romance, blending big-city buzz with cosy, intimate moments. Couples can take in stunning skyline views from the top of the CN Tower, wander hand-in-hand through the Distillery District’s cobbled streets, or enjoy a dreamy boat ride to the Toronto Islands. With its mix of vibrant neighbourhoods, scenic spots, and world-class dining, it’s easy to fall in love (and fall in love all over again) in this Canadian city. Among the attractions most described as ‘romantic’ by visitors are Edwards Gardens and helicopter tours.

5. Rome, Italy (53.38 out of 100)
   Boasting 900 couple-friendly things to do in this stunning Italian city, Rome is a city where every corner feels like a love letter from the past. Couples can sip negronis at rooftop bars like Terrazza Borromini, share plates of pasta by candlelight at Roscioli, or toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain and make a wish together. But even the architecture and natural attractions on offer are romantic enough; for example, you can wander through the winding streets of Trastevere, watch the sunset from the Pincian Hill, or steal a kiss on the Spanish Steps. Its undeniable charm sets the scene for romance like no other place on earth.

6. Brisbane, Australia (42.93 out of 100)

   For couples whose love story is full of excitement, Las Vegas is the place for them. Whether you're saying "I do" in a whimsical chapel, sharing a gourmet dinner at Eiffel Tower Restaurant, or taking in the glittering cityscape from a helicopter ride over the Strip, Vegas brings the drama in all the right ways. Stroll through the Venetian canals, watch the Bellagio fountains dance, or toast your love at a rooftop bar like SkyBar at Waldorf Astoria. It’s bold, glamorous and unforgettable.

8. Dubai, United Arab Emirates (39.62 out of 100)
   It’s a city on the sand oozing with luxury for the lovebirds who enjoy the finer things in life. There are 727 things for couples to do in Dubai, from watching the sun set over the desert on a private dune safari, enjoying a romantic dinner atop the Burj Khalifa at At.mosphere, or taking a moonlit stroll through the magical Dubai Marina. There are also almost 1,100 Instagram posts from people sharing their cutesy moments from this UAE city, proving how much romance there is to enjoy.
   

9. Paris, France (33.21 out of 100)
   Paris is the city of love for a reason; romance is simply woven into its streets, skyline, and soul. Share a kiss beneath the Eiffel Tower, sip wine at a candlelit bistro in Montmartre, or take a dreamy boat ride along the Seine as the city sparkles around you. Wander hand-in-hand through the gardens of the Palais-Royal or enjoy a quiet moment on the steps of Sacré-Cœur. There’s a reason why famous romance writers like F. Scott Fitzgerald spent so much time in Paris’ romantic atmosphere - now you can, too.

10. Melbourne, Australia (32.42 out of 100)
    With almost 5,000 Instagram posts by people madly in love on their date nights and with 253 couple-friendly things to do, Melbourne is a great city if you’re looking to up the romance. Among the most ‘romantic’ attractions according to visitors is taking a winetasting and tour at Yarra Valley vineyards, where you can sip wine and embrace the stunning surroundings. Boat trips and punting are also among the attractions that couples in love must enjoy while in Melbourne.

Despite North and Central America featuring heavily, occupying 11 of the top 25 spots, other continents also feature nicely throughout the list. In fact, Europe features seven times in total; London takes the top spot as the world’s most romantic destination, Rome claims fifth position, Paris is ninth, Barcelona is 13th, followed by Lisbon and Prague in 14th and 15th places, respectively. Turkey’s Istanbul is the final European location to claim a spot in the top 25, ranking as the 18th most romantic city in the world. 

Asia features twice, impressively, claiming two spots in the top 15 list. The United Arab Emirates’ Dubai is eighth with a Romantic Score of almost 40, while Colombo in Sri Lanka narrowly misses out on the top 10 list in 11th place, thanks to a score just shy of 31. 

Oceania also makes its way onto the list, featuring twice in the top 10. Queensland’s capital, Brisbane, is sixth, scoring almost 43, while Victoria’s Melbourne completes the top 10 most romantic destinations list with a score of 32.42.

We also wanted to take a look at the most romantic cities in the USA. With so many cities across America, each place offers something different for each individual couple to enjoy. So, we analysed the data for almost 110 US cities to discover America’s most romantic locations for you and your partner's next getaway. 

1. New York City, New York (66.65 out of 100)
   As already mentioned, New York has earned its place on the global stage when it comes to romance, which is why it dominates the rankings in the USA. If you’re a film and TV buff, then you would have already seen characters like Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass falling in love on the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl or Harry and Sally’s twisty-turny love story in the iconic When Harry Met Sally movie. Simply strolling around NYC will mean you’re following in their footsteps and creating your own love story worthy of a big screen debut.

2. Miami, Florida (65.70 out of 100)
   Want to immerse yourself in attractions where A-listers have tied the knot? Then make your way to Perez Art Museum Miami; not only can you admire the art with your significant other, but you can embrace the loving vibes knowing celebrities like Marc Anthony have been married there. Or you could pop along to the iconic Versace Mansion, where the likes of rapper 2 Chainz got married. It’s also a perfect spot to don your favourite swimwear!

3. Las Vegas, Nevada (52.62 out of 100)
   It’s not all parties and casinos in Las Vegas. You can hire a gondola and buy a bottle of champagne to sip as you make your way around the canals, all while cosying up to the one you love. You’re also spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and slap-up meals, so if you’re a couple of foodies, then Las Vegas is a must-visit city in the States.

4. Charleston, South Carolina (38.22 out of 100)
   Charleston is a charming blend of Southern hospitality and old-world romance, perfect for couples looking for timeless moments. Stroll along the historic waterfront, jump on a horse-drawn carriage through cobblestone streets, or enjoy a romantic dinner at the elegant Husk. If you’re into nature, then you could explore the beautiful plantations or even relax in the serene atmosphere of Waterfront Park. 5. Los Angeles, California (36.89 out of 100)

With nearly 3,000 Instagram posts dedicated to date nights in Atlanta, proving there is a lot to shout about in the world of romance in this city.

8. Albuquerque, New Mexico (30.60 out of 100)
   Taking a hot air balloon ride over the stunning desert landscape at sunrise, followed by a stroll through the historic Old Town to soak up the intimate atmosphere created by colourful adobe buildings and cosy shops is *the* perfect date if you ask us. This laid-back city could be considered a hidden gem for those lucky in love; however, it is a perfect destination for couples looking for romance with a touch of adventure.

9. San Diego, California (30.28 out of 100)
   Sunny, sandy beaches and laid-back vibes - what more could you want for a lustrous weekend trip? You can dial this trip up and down as much as you like, from strolling along the shore at La Jolla Cove right the way up to dining at one of the waterfront restaurants overlooking the Pacific. Perfect for those who want a relaxing weekend, spending quality time together.

10. Honolulu, Hawaii (29.32)
    This is tropical romance epitomised; take a scenic hike up Diamond Head for panoramic views of the island if you’re the outdoorsy couple, or relax together on the golden sands of Waikiki Beach to take in the views. You can choose from a variety of beachfront views as the sounds of crashing waves act as your soundtrack while you enjoy the food, drinks and the company of your loved one.
