Revealed: The Celebrities With The Sexiest Voices

Some celebrities are well-known for their husky and sensual voices; whether it’s their deep vocal tones or their alluring accents, some famous voices have us swooning whenever we hear them. 

Sexy accents are often the topic of conversation, even amongst celebrities, with the likes of Timothée Chalamet admitting the Hull accent makes him feel hot under the collar in an interview last year. But which celebrity voices leave us feeling a little flustered and could tempt us to get down to our sexy lingerie? 

Our latest study reveals just that - the A-listers with the sexiest voices! To discover the celebrity voices that turn us on the most, we conducted a study where participants listened to short clips of 100 famous celebs, all of whom have once been praised for their attractive vocals. The study involved rating the voices on various factors, all of which have been scientifically proven to contribute to a more sexually appealing voice. 

The study asked participants to rate the audio clips on the following factors:

Pitch: Some studies ¹  have shown that heterosexual men and women are more attracted to lower voices in the opposite sex 

Speed: A 2016 study² found that those who speak slightly faster are perceived as more attractive and more confident

Volume: Psychologists have found that people with louder voices are deemed more attractive³

Attractiveness: To understand how attractive the voice sounded to each participant 

The study also allowed participants to share how the voices made them feel, what one word they would use to describe the voice in the clip (e.g. husky, sensual, breathy, nasally etc) and if the celebrity’s accent had any effect on the overall ‘attractiveness’ of their voice.

It’s official - Stormzy (a.k.a. Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr.) has the sexiest voice of them all, with a total score of 31.2 out of a possible 40. The British rapper, singer and songwriter famously uses his (sexy) voice to call out injustice in the UK and around the globe, which has led to partnerships with the likes of Adidas, University of Cambridge and Penguin Random House. Interestingly, his London roots seem to contribute to his overall attractiveness, with 80% of participants believing his British accent makes him sexier to listen to.

Following closely behind is Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa, known for playing Eric Effiong in the hit Netflix series Sex Education, and more recently being cast as the new Doctor Who. Ncuti Gatwa was given a total sexy voice score of 30. Ncuti’s stunning Celtic tones, paired with a deep and husky richness to his voice all helped contribute to his silver medal in the world of sexy celebrity voices. 

Blowing listeners away with his authoritative and sexually attractive voice is Chris Hemsworth who ranks third in the list of sexiest celebrity voices with a total score of 29.2. Hemsworth (of the famous Hemsworth brothers) is an Australian actor best known for playing Marvel’s Thor as well as being dubbed People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in 2014. The Australian accent is clearly the spicy icing on the cake, as every participant said that this made his voice more sexually appealing. 

Salma Hayek is the first female in the top five list, claiming fourth place as the celebrity with the sexiest voice with a score of 28.4. Hayek is a Mexican-American actress and film producer whose Latino accent has a seductive effect, as everyone in the study said that her accent made her voice sexier overall. Aside from being incredibly beautiful and a super-talented director/producer, she has also been cited as one of Hollywood's most powerful and influential Latina actresses. 

Paul Mescal, who rose to fame with his role in ‘Normal People’ ranks in fifth place. After winning over the masses with Oscar and BAFTA nomination performances over the past couple of years his alluring Irish voice scored a total of 28 out of 40.

Michael B Jordan, Florence Pugh, Jamie Dornan, Gal Gadot and Daniel Kaluuya make up the rest of the top 10, respectively.

Salma Hayek tops the list for the sexiest female celebrity voice, with her seductive accent helping her to achieve a total of 28.4 out of 40. The actress started her career in Mexico and has since become well-known for her recent roles in Eternals and House of Gucci.

In second place is Florence Pugh with a score of 27.4. The English actress has starred in big blockbusters such as Oppenheimer, Black Widow, Little Women and Don’t Worry Darling - her low-toned voice makes her instantly recognisable, and super attractive. Following in third with her sultry accent, is Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress who’s best known for portraying Wonder Woman.   

British voices prove to be a big hit, as six of the top 10 sexiest female celebrity voices are those with an English accent - with Florence Pugh, Naomi Campbell, Dua Lipa, Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike and Emily Blunt all claiming their place in the top 15 spots.

Stormzy takes the crown as the sexiest male celebrity voice, with his husky tones and strong London accent winning people over the most. In second place is the Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa, who’s starred in popular shows including Sex Education and Doctor Who. Following in third is Chris Hemsworth, with the action star’s Aussie accent being a turn-on for lots of people. 

Celebrities with Celtic accents were also a big hit with participants, with Paul Mescal (4th) and Jamie Dornan (6th) tempting people with their Irish accents and then Gerard Butler (8th) and Richard Madden (10th) winning people over with their strong Scottish tones.

1. To determine which celebrities to include in the study, the researchers scraped Reddit and various articles from reputable sources that list celebrities with sexy voices. Those with three or more mentions were included to create a long list of 100 celebrities.

2. 30-second audio clips were sourced for each celebrity via YouTube. All clips used in the study exclusively featured the celebrity in question without background music or interruptions to ensure fairness.

3. 20 study participants were used as part of the study, each had to listen to the 30-second audio clips of each celebrity and rate them out of 10 on pitch, volume, speed and general attractiveness.

4. All scores were averaged and then totalled up to create a score out of 40. The results were sorted from highest to lowest, the highest being crowned the sexiest voice.

5. The study was conducted in February 2024.
